Frequently Asked QuestionsEligible homeowners may qualify for up to $2,350 in combined incentives, including the CleanBC EV charger rebate, BC Hydro Peak Saver incentive, and eligible community top-up funding. Incentive availability, funding levels and program requirements can change over time, so eligibility should always be confirmed before purchase.
BC Hydro Peak Saver is a voluntary program that helps reduce electricity demand during periods of exceptionally high use. When enrolled, eligible smart EV chargers may occasionally pause charging for short periods during Peak Saver events. In exchange, participants currently receive a $250 enrollment incentive and may earn an additional $50 per season for remaining enrolled in the program. Most homeowners find these brief charging pauses have little impact on their day-to-day charging needs.
Most Level 2 chargers can add approximately 30 to 70 kilometres of driving range per hour of charging, depending on your vehicle and charger settings. For most drivers, charging overnight easily provides enough energy for everyday driving.
Many homes can install an EV charger without upgrading the electrical panel. Before installation, Roost performs a load calculation to determine whether sufficient electrical capacity is available and to identify the most cost-effective installation approach.
