OUR WORK, IN THE FIELD

Every solar installation is different. Here's a
look at some of the systems we've designed
and built across the Thompson Okanagan.

22 panel (8 kW) system in Vernon

This installation on a clay-tile roof uses a unique footing that can be customized to fit securely and snugly, ensuring a watertight seal and a sturdy foundation for the solar panels.

56 panel (15 kW) system in Kelowna

This system - installed in 2016 - was one of our first to use all-black panels.

20 panel (11 kW) system in Coldstream

When your roof is not ideal for solar, a ground mount like this one can be a great alternative.

24 panel (9.4 kW) system in Armstrong

All-black panels on a copper-coloured standing-seam metal roof create a stunning and unique look

48 panel (17.3 kW) system in Vernon

Ballasted roof mounts are used on houses and businesses with flat roofs. The racking system is weighed down with cement blocks to avoid all roof penetrations

80 panel (36 kW) system in Kelowna

This business-owner has commercial solar arrays on two of his businesses, and has transformed his empty roof space into an energy producing asset!

40 panel (15 kW) system in Vernon

This lower slope barn metal roof used both flush-mount racking on the south side and and tilt kits on the north to maximize usage of available roof space. A main panel upgrade was also included as part of the solar installation.

28 panel (15 kW) system in Vernon

A beautiful and tranquil spot for this ground mount system! This ground mount uses concrete curbs for footings. Other footing options for ground mounts include helical piles and concrete sonotubes.

104 panel (40kW) system in Armstrong

This commercial "Tower of Power" was custom built on top of an existing structure and shows what is possible when sustainability and innovation converge.

24 panel (13 kW) system in Coldstream

This flush-slope ground mount looks very sleek and allows the homeowner to offset much of their annual electricity using the back slope of their property.

90 panel (28 kW) system in Vernon

This project was installed using S-5 PV Kits. The PV kits are rail-less and clamp the panels directly onto the standing seam metal roof, creating a low-profile design.

64 panel (24 kW) system in Coldstream

This ground mount has an adjustable racking system that can be tilted for optimal production each season. Coupled with bi-facial panels that can produce power from the back side too, this array has impressive power output. The EnergyHub inverter and backup battery ensure the homeowner will have a safe supply of power during grid outages.

80 panel (28kW) system in Kelowna

The panels in this array were installed in three phases and were attached to the curved metal roof using clamps that avoided all roof penetrations. Next time you are at the Kelowna Visitor Centre check it out!

438 (152 kW) system in Enderby

This solar array was installed on a dairy barn in late summer 2019. At the time, it was the biggest in the Okanagan and is still believed to be the largest solar PV system on a farm in BC!

64 panel (20 kW) system in Vernon

The panels in this array perfectly filled the south roof and made a beautiful addition to this newly constructed shop.

72 panel (23 kW) system in Coldstream

Sometimes when you want to eliminate that hydro bill you have to use a lot of your roof! This project covered seven different roof faces and will offset 100% of household electricity use.

54 panel (16 kW) system in Enderby

This mid-size array was installed on a steeper barn metal roof. Metal roofs are great for solar PV systems because the longevity of the roof itself matches well with the 30+ year lifespan of the solar panels we install

39 panel (12 kW) system in Armstrong

This system was installed on a pole barn. The number of panels that can fit on a barn roof varies based on the size of the roof and the roofs maximum structural load capability.

132 panel (42 kW) system in Lumby

This net zero home was oriented perfectly south at a steep angle. With a roof full of panels and two 13.5 kWh Tesla Powerwalls, this house had all the bells and whistles and was showcased in Canadian Contractor in Sept 2019.

41 panel (14 kW) system in Vernon

Installed in 2021, this system was designed to oƯset all of the homeowners annual electricity consumption, while keeping a clean rooftop layout and working around existing vents.

44 panel (19.9KW) system in Lake Country with batteries

This project is a great example of how solar can grow over time. The homeowner started with a modest array and, after seeing the tangible savings and performance, decided to work with Roost Solar on two additional phases — expanding the system with more panels and adding battery backup for greater energy resilience.

60 panel (27KW) system in Coldstream with batteries

This fully electric home showcases the full SolarEdge suite, with a flat-roof solar array, inverters, battery storage, and an integrated EV charger. It is also the first installation in Canada to deploy SolarEdge’s load-shedding solution, enabling intelligent management of large household loads during backup events.

85 panel (52KW) commercial system in Coldstream

By combining BC Hydro’s solar incentives with the federal 30% income tax credit, this commercial system operator was able to install a solar energy system at close to half the typical retail cost—resulting in rapid payback and meaningful energy savings for their long-established Coldstream business.

192 (96KW) solar array for the district of Coldstream

This 192-panel solar installation for the District of Coldstream was delivered through a competitive bid process and is designed to offset the majority of Coldstream Hall’s electricity consumption. The project supports the District’s long-term energy goals while providing meaningful operating cost savings for the facility in Coldstream, BC.
