Custom solar, battery, and EV charging systems for Kelowna homes and businesses, designed around local roofs and installed by our in-house team.
Roost Solar installed its first Kelowna system back in 2016, and we’ve been designing and building solar across the city ever since, on homes, commercial buildings, and even the Kelowna Visitor Centre.
Kelowna’s strong annual sun hours make it one of the best places in Canada to go solar. Most residential systems here fall between 8 kW and 20 kW, sized around your energy use and how much of your bill you want to offset. Surplus power your system exports earns credits through your utility, which helps balance long, sunny summers against shorter winter days.
From a single rooftop array to a full system with battery backup and EV charging, our Licensed Electrical Contractor team designs and installs every part of your project in-house.

Custom-designed solar arrays build to deliver reliable, long-term performance for your home or business.

Kelowna’s mix of housing and commercial buildings means solar design here often involves a few extra considerations. Understanding them early leads to a more accurate quote. If you’re curious how these factors affect price, our guide to what drives solar costs in BC covers it in more detail.

Tile roofs are more common in Kelowna than in most of the region. They require specialized racking and more careful installation, which we account for in the design and the quote from the start.
Many commercial and multi-family buildings have flat or low-slope roofs. These typically use ballasted racking, held in place by weight rather than fasteners, so the roof stays free of penetrations.
Depending on where you are in Kelowna, your property may be served by FortisBC or BC Hydro. Each has its own process for connecting a solar system and crediting surplus power, and we handle the application with whichever utility serves you.
Mature trees, neighbouring buildings, and roof obstructions can all cast shade. We assess shading as part of every design, and the SolarEdge technology we use optimizes each panel individually, so one shaded panel doesn’t drag down the rest.
When you work with Roost Solar, the people who design your system are the same people who install it. No subcontracted crews, and no handoffs.
Because electrical requirements are assessed upfront and included in your quote, our quotes are firm, so you know what your project will cost before you commit. We also manage the electrical permit and BC Hydro interconnection from start to finish.
And because we’re based in Vernon, with panels, inverters, racking, and electrical components stocked at our warehouse, we can respond quickly if a service or warranty need ever comes up.
